Wine Photo of the Day by Zach Klein
Here’s a toast to all the people whose creativity can be seen in a variety of ways in the pages of Wine News Review.
First off, as I say in the About page, many thanks to the WordPress community and all its contributors for creating such a great blogging environment — and particularly to Scott Wallick for sharing with the rest of us his beautiful blog.txt theme. I’ve adapted it a bit to reflect the spirit of the subject matter I write about. But I hope that I have remained true to Scott’s principles of simplicity. (Had some help with that from the hyper-talented blogging guru skellie at skelliewag.org.)
Special thanks to the bloggers, wine lovers and experts who share their knowledge and understanding so generously on the Web. Many of them are listed on the My favorite wine sites page.
Very close to me when I write are reference works and books of several wine masters and authors, providing guidance, historical background and assorted factoids that help me sound at times as though I might know what I’m talking about. Though it’s my policy to quote fully and freely with attribution, whatever general knowledge I may express about wine owes heavily to their influence. These books include:
- “The Story of Wine” by Hugh Johnson
- “The Oxford Companion to Wine” and “How to Taste” by Jancis Robinson
- “Adventures on the Wine Route” by Kermit Lynch
- “Red, White and Drunk All Over” by Natalie MacLean
- “The Wall Street Journal Guide to Wine” by Dorothy J. Gaiter and John Brecher
- “A Hedonist in the Cellar” by Jay McInerney
- “The Emperor of Wine” by Elin McCoy
- “Introducing Wine” by Oz Clarke
- “Great Wine Made Simple” by Andrea Immer Robinson
- “Educating Peter” by Lettie Teague
- “Windows on the World Complete Wine Course” by Kevin Zraly
Wine News Review spotlights excellence in wine photography through a Wine Photo of the Day selection, like the one above. These photos and images appear with individual stories and in separate photogallery collections. They are mostly from Flickr and are published under Creative Commons licenses.
Other photos and images are obtained through commercial services iStockphoto and stockexpert. Those shots are listed below, along with authors.
If your photo appears in these pages and you have a concern, question or comment, please contact me. Same goes if you would like to offer a photo for consideration as a Wine Photo of the Day.
Thanks again to you all.
